More than million guests in July

The month of July was busy and fun at KEF Airport. A total of 1,028,201 guests made their way through the airport, which is a 4.9% increase compared to the same month last year. It is the first time since August 2018 that the number of guests has exceeded 1 million.

In total, 25 airlines flew to 79 destinations in July. The most popular destinations were New York, Copenhagen, London, Paris, and Boston.

The busiest day was July 21st, when 36,111 guests went through the airport.

Departures of Icelanders were around 63,000 in July, which is about 11% fewer than in July last year.

According to the Icelandic Tourist Board, departures of foreign guests from the country were around 277,000, which is a 0.5% increase from July last year. Most departures were by Americans (36%), followed by Germans (7%), Poles (5%), British (5%), and Canadians (4%).
